But it was clear even by the late 1990s that Photoshop was getting too many features and that the lack of a "hobbyist" level product was leading to more and more piracy, so they released Photoshop Elements to try and fill the gap. The learning curve (and the price!) was steep, but if you wanted to do stuff the freebies were incapable of you invested in Photoshop. ![]() Time was, you either used the free image editing software that came with your computer or you went to the big leagues and used Photoshop.
